Rally for Reform-An Invitation to Make It Right for Singapore
Posted: 6th January 2011
Dear Fellow Singaporean,
It has taken a lot of your blood, sweat and tears over some nearly 50 years for Singaporeans to get to where we are today. But the next election is not about where we have been and what we have done, it is about the kind of Singapore we leave behind for our children. It is about the next 50 years.
The Reform Party’s vision of Singapore is that of an advanced democracy in which prosperity and freedom go hand in hand. Where hard work and wealth creation are rewarded. Where there is equality of opportunity and no one gets left behind. A Singapore where we determine our destiny.
We will push to reduce waste and inefficiency in government starting by slashing ministerial salaries and replacing it with performance-linked earnings tied to indicators directly related to your welfare. We will seek to abolish restrictions on freedom of expression in order to foster creativity and innovation necessary for a 21st century knowledge-based economy.
On January 15 2011, the Reform Party will stage its first pre-election rally at Hong Lim Park. As you sit down to dinner tonight, tell a family member. As you gather to celebrate these early days of the New Year, tell your friends. Follow us on Twitter. Find us on Facebook. Invite your family and friends to the Rally and help us hit our target of 10,000 invitations! But above all, come and spend that January afternoon with us and take this first, most important step toward making it right for Singapore. Come and hear how we intend to implement our reforms. Let us explain to you why we can pay for our policies without raising taxes.
Sincerely,
Kenneth Jeyaretnam
Secretary-General
Reform Party

Great to hear you’re hosting a rally, please make sure you put video or photos on the internet for all the people who aren’t able to attend – like being overseas!
Dear KJ
I wish you all the best in this coming election including all the opposition party , may you all win majority at ease and one last word please do not reveal all the details what you really intend to do for the people if you guys win in this election during your rally on the 15.01.2011 as it might be a saviour to the PAP party.its just a caution thats all may god bless all the opposition in this coming GE2011,MAJULAH SINGAPURA. Sorry if my grammer is not good.
Dear KJ,
Thank you for organizing this event! I am happy to come and have invited friends and family to join me there. I have told them to come in yellow and I will happily bring food n drinks for my guests.
I am looking forward to see a huge turnout and let’s enjoy a great day at the park together. I wish you and the RP team success!
Maybe it’s premature to say this but please organize more such events!
Dear Friends
Thank you all for your kind comments. I’m so glad to hear that you will be treating this as a family day out, bringing friends and wearing yellow. Standing up for your right to have an opinion is a patriotic act and something that we should all be proud to do. It needn’t be destructive or ‘oppositional.’ It should be constructive in building a fairer and better Singapore together. This is very much a warm up so we won’t be spelling out any policy in detail. We will though be introducing a variety of new faces and talking on a host of key issues. RP will also use the platform to issue a mystery challenge to the other opposition parties.
We will have roving reporters of our own on the day in addition to the reporters from the alternative media expected to attend. So we expect good coverage of the event. However nothing will compare to the atmosphere of actually being there on the day.
I’m not sure how many rallies we will be able to do like this in the future as elections are drawing close and it has taken a lot of time and resources to organise this one.
I look forward to meeting you all. I care about my country, I care about my future and I care about you!
Until Saturday
Kenneth
My dear friends,
Hope you all are well and in high spirits.
I believe many of you like me have been observing the Singapore’s General Election’s buzz of ruling government and the opposition parties. It is getting louder and louder day after day.
Every five years when election season starts, I recalled my father’s advice to me when I was a young boy and he said “ Son you should never bet on donkey in horse racing”.
Cicero ever said “History is the witness that testifies to the passing of time; it illumines reality, vitalizes memory, provides guidance in daily life and brings us tidings of antiquity.
In just 46 years, a fishing village has turned into one of the Four Asian Tigers. The success of the PAP, the world’s longest-governing elected political party, is based on meritocracy, incorruptibility and effective policies.
Important to understanding Singapore’s meritocracy is political recruitment which has been refined for half a century. Compensation for the high flyers means elected officials and top civil servants are probably the highest paid in the world.
The realistic justification is that you can retain outstanding persons. Comprehensive and effective anti-corruption measures combined with high pay means Singapore is one of the most corruption free governments in the world.
Last couple of weeks PAP has introduced new recruitments and many new candidates and I had the time to watch the first batch on 21st March 2011 by PAP’s 2nd Asst. Sec-Gen Teo Chee Hean introduces party’s new candidates for upcoming General Election.
PAP’s new candidate Desmond Choo said that he wants to ensure the education for every Singaporean child in Singapore regardless of their family’s financial status. Because he knows education is one of the most powerful weapons against poverty and conflict and he also reaffirmed the need for strong investments in education to provide citizens with greater opportunities for personal and collective advancement.
PAP’s new candidate Ong Ye Kung emphasized on Singapore’s Free Trade Agreements and continues to work hard to established close relationship, trust, synergy with the world’s top economy for mutual benefits in Asia and beyond to remains relevant to the global economy.
PAP’s new candidate Dr Janil Puthucheary tried to explained to his fellow Singaporeans that why did he decided to be the member of this unique and precious political system. After traveling and living in so many countries finally he has found his best home ever is in Singapore and became the active member of this multicultural and meritocratic system.
Because he knows about Singapore’s multiculturalism’s and meritocracy’s success stories and to ensure Singaporean that religion is not exploited by politicians to serve their political agenda.
People like Dr. Janil, Mr. Ong Ye Kung and Mr. Desmond Choo do not need to come to politics they have already achieved the highest in lives and living their happy lives. But they have left their happy lives and came out from their comfort zone and being committed to give something to their communities.
However, when I have watched the opposition parties’ political agenda in compare to PAP’s political agenda I became very disappointed because the workers, the reformer, the solidarity, the democrats, the democratic alliance are still with all those old cheap shot 19th century’s political agenda that are applicable for under developed and developing countries in Asia & Africa but not for Singapore where as the PAP government is talking about development of new strategies and new structures as countries rush to compete in an increasingly globalized arena to stay relevant to the world’s top economy.
I think my father was right as he said to me that if I put the donkey in the horse race then that donkey will never reach the destination that I desire.
So, my dear friend possibly and enthusiastically we can pregnant the opposition leaders with our valuable votes but then we have to endure the consequences of that miscarriage in an early pregnancy.
Which is why the Singapore’s opposition parties said that “ Not Ready To Lead For Now ” published in the Singapore newspaper. Please refer to the 24th March 2011 “My Paper published by Kenny Chee”.
Wish you all happy voting but please vote wisely.
With best regards
Jugani
