Transparency, accountability and inclusion: A democratic Singapore for Singaporeans

Secretary-General’s Personal Message to Ang Mo Kio Residents

Published: 5th May 2011

A personal message from our Secretary-General, Mr Kenneth Jeyaretnam to the people of Ang Mo Kio:

“Dear voters in Ang Mo Kio. You all know that Ang Mo Kio is dear to me as a constituency. Many of you have told me that you remember Cheng San and the anguish of my father’s narrow defeat.

“For a moment it looked as though Singapore was to have all 87 seats contested so I decided to pull out all the stops and bring you a team. The reception has been overwhelming. I thank you all and I am grateful that The Reform party has been able to play this small part in normalizing democracy.

“Considering that there are over a dozen rallies tonight we have decided to combine forces. So although the Ang Mo Kio candidates will be physically speaking from Clementi stadium, they will be there representing all our people in Ang Mo Kio and Cheng San.

“I do beg your forgiveness and hope that in your thousands you won’t object to coming to Clementi stadium for the combined Rally at 7:00pm which will be bigger and better than any we have held previously.

“Speeches will be available on our website and on our you tube channel before midnight:

“It looks set to be a great night. We are all of us excited, raring to  go and looking forward to speaking in the last few hours we have available in GE2011.

“Please vote for the sun, for a brighter future. Please vote Reform.”
