Commiserations to SPP on their Loss of Potong Pasir SMC
Published: 11th May 201111th May 2011
Dear Mr. and Mrs. Chiam,
The Reform Party and I wish to offer our commiserations to the Singapore People’s Party on the loss of Potong Pasir by a microscopic margin. This, and the other narrow loss suffered in Bishan-Toa Payoh, is an unhappy close to Mr. Chiam’s 27 year career in Parliament. Given the Chiams’ long-standing ties to Potong Pasir, we can understand that many of the residents may feel unhappy at the sudden change.
Nevertheless we are pleased that the SPP will still be represented in Parliament by Lina Chiam through her entitlement to an NCMP seat. We are confident that the SPP and Mrs. Chiam will be able to regain the seat in GE 2016.
Yours sincerely,
Kenneth Jeyaretnam
Secretary-General
The Reform Party
